Steve Wolfe

Meet Steve Wolfe: Steve is Aisling's goofy, devilishly handsome (in his own mind), and notoriously out-of-tune principal flute and tin whistle player. He started playing tin whistle in the early 1990s when he found a beat up Generation whistle in his children's closet. He took up Irish flute a couple years later, Boehm flute in 2002, tenor saxophone (poor Andi) in 2003, and Baroque flute in 2005. Steve studied tin whistle with Bill Wolf for a few months when he and Andi lived in Nashville, TN. He studied modern silver flute for four years with the late Joe Lord. He currently studies modern and Baroque flute with Beth Owen and ensemble playing with the Chamber Music Connection. He has participated in Master Classes with Kirsten Docter of the Cavani String Quartet, Merry Peckham, also of the Cavani, Steven Huang of Ohio University, Michael Lynn of Oberlin University, Leslie Maaser of the Columbus Bach Ensemble, and Mika Putterman of Autour de la flute. Steve is a former member of the Greater Columbus Concert Band. He plays flutes made by Patrick Olwell, Miyazawa, Gemeinhardt, and Folkers and Powell. He plays tin whistles made by Mike Burke and Michael Copeland. Steve prefers to wear socks made by Smart Wool.
