Meet Craig Caldwell: Craig is a Columbus area physician and former
student of finger style guitar wizard John Sherman. Hooked on Celtic
music at the age of 6 years when he heard his first pipe band
recording, he became (what else?) a percussionist playing just about
any type of instrument that could be attacked with a stick. Years
later in college, realizing that drumming was taking a toll on his
hearing, he picked up the acoustic guitar and never looked back. While in school he also dabbled with claw hammer style five-string banjo, mandolin, and played rhythm guitar in a traditional “Old Time” band. After taking time off from music for a numberof years he picked up the guitar once again and began to explore finger style techniques. In addition to John Sherman, other favorite musical influences include John Doyle, Leo Kotke, Pierre Bensusan, and Bill Mize. When not working or playing music, he can generally be found fly fishing or playing cowboy and riding his horse, a spirited red roan mare, on long cross country treks around Ohio and the mountains of Colorado.
